Aviation

Training and expertise are key aspects in aviation. A traditional way of evaluating operator (i.e. pilots, air traffic controllers) expertise is to measure performance output; however, this approach provides a narrow view of the operator’s capacity, especially with regard to the cognitive profile.

Automotive

The human element of driving remains the main cause of traffic accidents and fatalities. Real-time measurement of workload and vigilance provided by Mindtooth neurometrics enable better training and improved performance, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.

NeuroAesthetics

The Mindtooth system was validated through studies within the Accademia dei Lincei and the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome to measure the appreciation of various works of art: the recitation of passages from Dante’s Divine Comedy or the observation of the Moses statue by Michelangelo.

Virtual Reality Integration

The Mindtooth Touch headset can be worn together with head-mounted VR systems without inducing signal interference. The system has been tested by BrainSigns in a research study, which assessed workload and approach-withdrawal during VR in different scenarios. This solution is offered in collaboration with Myndek that developed an SDK for VR and Neurometrics integration.

Fabio Babiloni

Dr. Fabio Babiloni was graduated in electronic engineering at the University of Rome with honors and holds a PhD in Computational Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology.

Fabio Babiloni BrainSigns

He is full Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rome “Sapienza”, Italy. He also has the habilitation of full professor of Biomedical Engineering since 2014. He currently teaches at the University of Rome Sapienza the following courses:

- “Physiology and Neuroscience” at the Medical School Faculty
- “Industrial Neuroscience” to the Engineering Faculty
- “Neuromarketing and Neuroeconomy” at the Psychology Faculty and in the MBA courses of the LUISS university
- “Biomedical Engineering” to the Biotechology Faculty

Professor Babiloni is author of 300 papers on bioengineering and neurophysiological topics on international peer-reviewed scientific journals, and more than 250 contributions to conferences and books chapters. He wrote several books on EEG signal processing. His total impact factor is more than 500 and his H-index is 81 (Google Scholar).

The professor Babiloni is on the list of Top Italian Scientists, the best 2,500 living Italian scientists in all fields of knowledge, operating in Italy and abroad. He is also in the best 2% of the world scientists in neuroscience and biomedical engineering according to the ranking list published in 2021 PlosOne, in 2022 by Springer Verlag Publisher and in 2023 by www.adscientificindex.com

He is an Associate Editor of several scientific Journals, “IEEE Trans. On Neural System and Rehabilitation Engineering”, “IEEE Trans. On Biomedical Engineering” and he is Editor in Chief of the “International Journal of Bioelectromagnetism”. Since 2007 is IEEE-EMBS Conference Editor, since 2011 to 2016 was Chair of the IEEE-EMBS Technical Committee of Biomedical Signal Processing and since 2012 is in the advisory committee of the IEEE-EMBS.
